JONES announce Minnesota mini-tour in January!
Clay Hagen and his gritty new blues/rock band JONES will be playing three shows in Minnesota on January 9th, 10th and 11th. It’s been almost four years since A Night in the Box called it quits. Clay Hagen, the charismatic singer/guitarist of the widely celebrated Minneapolis outfit, knew he couldn’t leave music alone for long. Clay went solo for a short time but missed band life. In 2011 he called on a few old friends - Nick Rush and Ian Tsan (Rambos, MPLS Henrys) to play bass and drums. The trio formed a new group called “JONES” and began a long distance collaboration between the Minneapolis and Chicago-based musicians. Clay would travel to Chicago for a weekend every few months and leave with a couple more songs each time. After two years of this, the band headed into Chicago’s Minbal Studios to record a six song EP. JONES is a hard-driving, electric blues/rock band and a perfect vehicle for Clay’s passionate performing style. The debut album will be released in 2015. As mentioned above, JONES will be playing 3 shows in Minnesota in January. They are:

Musikanto at Ribfest Chicago
Home sweet home. Musikanto drove back to Chicago from Des Moines a little over a week ago to play Ribfest. Ribfest is one of Chicago’s best street festivals. The name doesn’t lie, you’ll eat some good ribs at Ribfest. This one’s a short stop, though. Musikanto will hit the road again on Thursday, heading to Milwaukee to play at Shank Hall with The Deadstring Brothers from Detroit.

After driving for 19 hours and 41 minutes, Musikanto finally made it back to the prairie. He plays The House of Bricks tonight with King of the Tramps. The show starts at 9pm and is only $5.

Rambos at Burlington with The Ladybirds (Louisville) and Blackbelts

Rambos take the stage at The Burlington tonight with The Ladybirds from Louisville and Chicago’s Blackbelts. Loud Loop Press says:
“Get your September off to a brawlin’ good start with high-energy Chicago rockers Rambos. The group melts faces with smoky rockabilly beats, which it lovingly layers with thick cuts of bluesy punk and surf rock. It’s like a rock’n’roll seven-layer bean dip. No, I’m not hungry. I swear. Mid Point Music Fest lineup announced
Cincinnati’s MidPoint Music Fest is back for its 11th year! Chicago has a nice contingent out there, including two of our very own, Ami Saraiya and the Outcome and Jon Drake & The Shakes. Other Chicago acts include: Paper Thick Walls, JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound, The Damn Choir, Andrew Bird, Briar Rabbit, J. Davis Trio, Sidewalk Chalk, Willis Earl Beale, The Bears of Blue River and The Right Now. Find the full lineup at mpmf.com. The festival runs in multiple locations around Cincinnati from September 27-29.

The second annual event aims to highlight Chicago bands by taking them out of the city and transplanting them north 55 miles in Woodstock.
