Rambos at Burlington with The Ladybirds (Louisville) and Blackbelts

Rambos take the stage at The Burlington tonight with The Ladybirds from Louisville and Chicago’s Blackbelts. Loud Loop Press says:

“Get your September off to a brawlin’ good start with high-energy Chicago rockers Rambos. The group melts faces with smoky rockabilly beats, which it lovingly layers with thick cuts of bluesy punk and surf rock. It’s like a rock’n’roll seven-layer bean dip. No, I’m not hungry. I swear. Also performing tonight are Louisville pop rockers The Ladybirds and music group Blackbelts.” (Audrey Leon)

New (to us) music: Archie Powell and the Exports

Got a tip from Brandon Stein (of the MPLS Henrys) back when he was galavanting around the CMJ Marathon in October. This week in Chicago shows

We go to a lot of shows, so we thought we’d start sharing which ones we’re planning on hitting up this week.

New(ish) Chicago venue: Pancho’s in Logan Square

As Logan Square continues its rise, Pancho’s has officially joined the party. We’re very excited [...]

New (to us) music: Nick Miller and the Neighbors

We can’t say enough about Nick Miller and the Neighbors. They are an amazing band and even nicer people. Chicago Mixtape first introduced us to Nick and his neighbors a few months back, and we ended up meeting these guys (and gal) at Subterranean last night.

Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Fest

The folks over at Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Festival have done it again. This year’s festival features Drive-by Truckers, Dawes, Joe Pug, Bailiff, The Shams Band, Go Long Mule, and Jon Drake & The Shakes, just to name a few.
